Acer releases new Predator gaming machines in Australia

Acer’s Predator range has just expanded mightily, with a range of new PCs and monitors touching down in Australia today.

Coming out swinging that the new Predators are for ‘serious gamers’, Acer’s new range centers around the admittedly impressive and rather serious Predator G6 desktop machine. The G6 is powered by a Intel’s latest 6th gen Core processors, and can be kitted out with up to 64GB of DDR4 memory. The latest GTX graphics rounds out this powerhouse, and the whole desktop tower features one-touch overclocking and Acer’s IceTunnel cooling solution. We’re waiting on pricing, but it’ll likely be steep.

If you rather something a little less imposing and more mobile, there’s the Predator 15 and 17 gaming notebooks, aimed at professional gamers. These laptops – with 15in and 17in displays respectively – sport Core i7-6700HQ processors, and GeForce GTX 980 graphics, and – again – up to 64GB of memory, as well as enterprise-grade 512GB PCIe-based SSDs. SoundPound technology (which really sounds kinda rude) delivers excellent audio, while PredatorSense keyboards feature fully programmable keys.

The Predator 15 starts from $2999, and the 17 from $3299.

Acer’s also got a whole mess of new monitors for gamers. Both the ultra-wide X34 and Z35 boast a 178-degree curvature, and G-Sync compatibility, which makes for a pretty cool combination. The 35in Z35 also has Nvidia ULMB, or ultra low motion blur, for sharp gaming graphics, and a 200Hz refresh rate.

The 34in X34 also has G-Sync, but ‘only’ a 100Hz refresh.  Both have built-in DTS-powered speakers.

The X34 retails for $1999, and the Z35 for $1899.

Finally, there’s XB1 range of monitors, with two 27in models: one with an edge-to-edge 4K screen, and the other a WQHD IPS display. There’s also a 28in 4K model and a 1ms response time.
